Robert DeNiro Gives Jay-Z A Dressing Down!

Submitted by on November 15, 2012 – 9:06 am Comments

Yup, you read the title right, Robert DeNiro gave Jay-Z a tough time at Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday party. Surely by now you must be yelling ‘what the hell’ and wondering as to why these two heavyweight celebrities got into such a situation. Many would assume that issue must have been something really serious, for these two who aren’t even in the same field of entertainment to get into an uncomfortable situation. But it turns out; the issue wasn’t so serious after all.

Basically, De Niro had asked the rapper to record a song for the Tribeca Film Festival a few months back, but Jay never answered the phone when he called with more details. So when Jay went over to Robert’s table to say hello, the acting legend went all Raging Bull on him and reportedly dressed him down in a room full of famous faces (including Martin Scorsese!). “Bob wasn’t in any mood to make polite conversation,” a witness told the New York Post. “He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude”.

Surely, Jay must have yelled a loud ‘what the hell’ in his head, on seeing DeNiro react the way he did. Fans of Jay would probably say DeNiro is turning into a cranky old man, and that his reaction was unwarranted and inappropriate. DeNiro fans on the other hand would probably say, it was rude of Jay to not return the calls of a man, who is one of the most respected and known names in the entertainment industry.

Jay on his part did try to make amends by saying he was “terrible on the phone”. But DeNiro isn’t the man to be assuaged so easily, and therefore Jay had to resort to bringing his wife Beyonce into the picture. That didn’t work either and “De Niro kept telling him that he thinks he’s the man, but that he was disrespectful,” the source revealed. The actor’s rep claims that it was no biggie. “It was a low-key private conversation between two people that was apparently overheard. It was not a heated discussion”.
