Ricky Gervais’s App ‘Just Sayin’ Lets You Listen In On Celebrities

When you have Ricky Gervais involved in making an app, you can bet your life on it being hilarious. ‘Just Sayin’, a new, free, voice-based social media app that officially launches today, is one that is being talked about. Ricky Gervais is involved in this project in the capacity of a creative director and a partner. The app would allow its users to share voice and video-based messages with their followers via their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. It would basically be like an Instagram, therefore audio and video messages can also be shared via Twitter or Facebook.

The most attractive feature of this app would be the fact that you can get into a conversation with a user that other followers can listen in on. Therefore, instead of you reading George Clooney and Tom cruise argue over something, or Kim Kardashian repond to her followers, you could listen in on their exchanges instead; nuances, inflections, sarcasm, and silly voices…. etc. “It has the chance to be something really positive,” Gervais said. “Bringing our voice, and what that means, that kind of standing up and being ‘on stage’ to the world — it makes us all draw from deeper personal reserves, and put ourselves out there — I think that’s only a good thing.”

For something as silly and outrageous as this app, it was required that a name like Gervais’s be involved with it. It should in the end make you yell out “what the hell?” and if it does so, Gervais sitting somewhere in some part of the world, would feel he has done his job. “I’ve had a hand in seeing the development of this new idea of public conversations, and importantly, experimenting with what kinds of conversations work and which don’t,” says Gervais, commenting on its development which he was involved in with Just Sayin’s founder David Hayden.

It would really be an interesting app, as it would be really intriguing to hear celebs that, you follow, actually converse and voice their opinions, with you getting to hear them instead of just reading them. It could prove to be quite a rage and catch on pretty quickly.
