Justin Beiber Is Related To Ryan Gosling And Celine Dion

Submitted by on October 11, 2012 – 9:00 am Comments

If someone stopped you on the road and asked you, what is common between Justin Beiber, Celine Dion, Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne? You would probably scratch your head and yell ‘what the hell’. Some of you might even come up with a smart answer like: they are all celebrities. But, if someone told you the common thing between the three is the fact that they are related, you would probably again yell ‘what the hell’, and this time in disbelief.

Well, if genealogists at Ancestry.com are to be believed this might actually be the case. They have even revealed the details of how exactly the four are related. Turns out, their ancestors were early settlers of Quebec Province, Canada. Bieber and Gosling are 11th cousins once removed; he and Dion are 10th cousins three times removed; and he and Lavigne are 12th cousins. For a change, yelling out ‘wow’ would probably be more apt than ‘what the hell’, right after you assimilate the information. “The great thing about family history is that you never know what you’re going to find,” Michelle Ercanback, a researcher with Ancentry.com, was quoted as saying. “It was a very pleasant surprise” she added.

Surely, with this revelation being made public, people must be queuing up at Ancestry.com to find out which celebrity they are related to. In fact, in the future, the genealogists might stumble upon the most unlikely people being related, like in this case. Also it turns out, the connections date back to two French couples who settled in Qubec way back in 17th century. Bieber, Gosling and Lavigne have Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Bire as common ancestors; on the other hand Bieber and Dion are connected through another couple, Jacques Vezina and Marie Boisdon.

One can’t help but wonder, how the celebs who are involved in this matter, reacted to this news, surely at least one or two of them must have yelled ‘what the hell’. Interestingly, Dion, Beiber and Lavigne are all singers, which could mean some sort of a common singing gene has passed down their bloodline. The only one, who of the lot, hasn’t taken up singing as a vocation is Ryan Gosling. After this revelation, probably he should give it a try.
