This Week In The Box Office: Expendables 2 Continues To Shine

Submitted by on September 2, 2012 – 7:59 am Comments

Last week there was no real “Top In Box Office” that was different and this week there isn’t much of a change. With the film “Obama’s America” taking the number four spot last week, this was changed as Dark Knight Rises Beats out “Sparkle”, Whitney Houston’s last movie. The Top 5 of the week is the same this week with the exception of Dark Knight Rises. With The Expendables 2 making headway in its 3rd week in the Box Office, it is going to be interesting if it is going to be able to hold its own next week. Time will tell really.

1. The Expendables 2 – Barney, Ross, Lee Christmas, Yin Yang and the rest of the squad are back to take on what seems to be, an easy job. However, when one of their very own is killed in this “easy” job, it is up to the Expendables to get revenge as they go in guns blazing to get what they need. With the right stuff, the team will have to give it their all to be able to win this battle against a villainous adversary who was originally charged of killing their brother in arms.

2. The Bourne Legacy – Forced on the run, a man must give himself up to the same agency that Jason Bourne was created into. In order to become a government operative, he must do everything that he is ordered to do without questions. When things turn for the worse, he is on the run again as he tries to stop the men who are trying to kill him. With only a little time, it becomes a mission to escape alive.

3. Paranorman- When a town is overcome with Zombies, it is up to Norman, a normal average boy with a special gift. He can talk to the dead. With ghosts, witches and zombies to fight off, the town is cursed from centuries ago. With his special talent, he has to go through different paranormal activities that will involve his family who seem to not believe in his gift.

4. The Campaign – Cam Brady is a long-term congressman with an agenda. That is to win the upcoming election. However, when Marty Huggins, director of the Tourism Center becomes his competition, Brady is forced to kick it into high gear to be able to win the hearts of those who have loved him. In a cutthroat business, the two get locked in a heated debate and it is close. The two will stop at nothing to make sure the other doesn’t get close to getting the congressman seat.

5. Dark Knight Rises – Eight years after Batman disapearing, the streets of Gotham City have not been the same. Being framed for D.A. Harvey Dent’s death will do that. The Anti-Crime Dent Act seemed to be doing its job without the masked crusader. However, a cunning cat burglar seeks to stop that and a new villian, Bane, emerges to destroy everything that Batman and Commissioner Gordon fought to uphold. However, this gets Batman to emerge once again to try to stop this terrorist before he destroys the city that has turned its back on him.

That’s it for the Top 5 of the week. It is surprising to see that Bourne Legacy is holding strong to number two after all the negative critiques that the movie has been getting. However, it is always the same it seems. When a movie gets bad critiques, it seems to do phenomenally well in the theaters. The one film that people are talking about is Paranormal. The children’s movie is beating out two influential films and it is a wonder how funny it really is. Until next week, Enjoy the movies!
