Will.i.am and Simon Cowell To Start X Factor for Tech!

Submitted by on October 1, 2012 – 9:30 am Comments

So here is a hypothetical scenario where Simon Cowell and Will.i.am are having a “secret dinner” somewhere in LA. At this supposed meeting they discuss how they can take over the world; no sorry I got carried away. They discuss their plans to start working on a new X Factor-like show but for Tech.

Will.i.am told reporters, “We’re working on a project called ‘X Factor for Tech’ — and it’s going to be out of this world. … Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots.” So in a way they are finding super smart people who can create technology capable of world domination, right?

Will.i.am has been a contributor both in time and money to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or (STEM) education in Los Angeles. He teamed up with Time Warner Cable to inspire young innovators with a contest called “Wouldn’t It Be Cool If…” In a video introducing the contest, Will.i.am said “I need you to come up with some crazy ideas that’ll change your community or the world, because it’s you that’ll be running the world 20 years from now. Apply that knowledge you have and come up with something where you are competing with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and Michael Dell.”  Inspiring stuff you lyrical genius.

Wait there is more; Will.i.am was made the director of creative innovation by Intel in 2011 and was a speaker at the recent European trade show, IBC. His talk was well received and impressive to his audience of seasoned industry pros. We know that Will.i.am really has been working with today’s youths in some really wonderful ways, but what about Simon Cowell?

I for one really hope Cowell has a better eye for Tech then for singers because some of his picks, not so good. Granted, he has contributed a lot to the music and entertainment industry and it is going to be interesting to see his take on this. Details are still in phase one and will likely be released at the last moment. With the bright minds of tomorrow working with bright minds of entertainment, we’re sure to have some animatronics actors soon! Like Disney; except less puppet-like.
