Randy Jackson Recalled For American Idol

Submitted by on September 11, 2012 – 10:00 am Comments

Well, with each passing day news of a new name being considered for judging American Idol comes in. The last one heard was that, Enrique Iglesias is being considered. That news hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. In fact, it’s being suggested that negotiations with Enrique have broken down. But there is some amount of good news for Idol fans, as they shall get to see a familiar face once again. Randy Jackson might be returning to the show.

The makers of the show looked far and wide for a judge, but they in the end probably realized Randy was the best fit. Presumably, the makers of the show might just be offering Randy a sweeter deal than he already had. The makers must have also realized that, Randy is a safe bet, as he unlike the others stuck around with Idol through its thick and thin, and has become somewhat of a mascot for American Idol along with Ryan Seacrest.

The speculation of Randy’s return was virtually confirmed when Jackson’s former cohort Simon Cowell tweeted stating: “Just heard randy is back on idol. Right decision.” It’s therefore being speculated that Randy is being brought in once again, instead of roping in Enrique. There shall in all be 4 judges on the show this year of which Maria has officially been confirmed. The other two besides Randy would most probably be Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, but there has been no official statement given or confirmation made regarding their names. The show is slated to premier in January, so it’s surprising that the final list of judges is still being mulled over.

As far as Randy Jackson is concerned, one can’t deny the fact that he needs the show as much as the show needs him, or probably more. The kind of recognition he has gotten from Idol and the kind of money he has made would possibly be difficult for him to replicate, elsewhere. Now for the show to be a huge success again, all the makers need to do is bring in Simon Cowell once again. It might seem like mission impossible, but it would go a long way in reversing the fortunes of the show, if it can in the end be managed.
