‘Modern Family’ Cast Back To Work!
One of the highest rated comedies series on ABC, ‘Modern Family’, has not been shut down. That is for now. Yesterday, the cast of the hit-series walked out on a table read because of discrepancies within their salaries. Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara filed a lawsuit on Tuesday saying that it was infringing on the Seven-Year Rule. This means that the producers are not allowed to have personal services contracts for seven years. This is all in wake to producers not giving the actors what they wanted in ways of salary. Apparently Gloria’s high heeled stilettos cost a little bit more. Ed O’Neill, who most remember as the father from “Married With Children”, makes the most at $100,000 per episode. The other cast members were looking at around the $200,000 per episode.
This walk out is only a beginning to what can happen with the cast of the television program millions of people have grown to love. Other things like skipping run-through and taping are among things that could happen if the producers and cast don’t come to a compromise soon. ‘Modern Family’ have been on the air for 3 seasons and have been working on the 4th one. With the little hurdle that everyone it seems is going to have to get through, there are some that worry that the family will not be able to reach a solution to their dilemma. With the witty banter between Cam (Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Tyler) and the always sexy Gloria (Vergara), it would surely be a sad day in television if the show was canceled to to a lack of money paid to the actors and actresses who make the public laugh and clearly deserve more.
Everyone at the set feel that it is a “good sign” that they have agreed to continue filming and that they are willing to work through it. With the lawsuit over the production company, it is hard to say what the exact future of the show is going to be. In many television series of the past, a lot of the production company’s greed have taken the better of them and some really good shows have been canceled. No further news as to what the producers have decided to do or not. ‘Modern Family’ has been renewed by the ABC Network and feel that there is no doubt that some arrangement will be made. If not soon, we all might be forced to say goodbye to a wonderful family like the Pritchetts and Dunphys and Cam’s references to “The Farm”. Here’s to hoping that never happens!
