Michael Jackson singingABC announced this week that it will air “BAD25″, a documentary about none other than Michael Jackson. The documentary, which is directed by Spike Lee, shows the creation of one of Jackson’s most famous albums, the 1987 album “Bad.” The documentary is set to air on Thanksgiving, though we don’t know further details on that yet.

The film, which used archival footage that came from Michael Jackson’s estate, shows “the creative forces” Michael used to help him make the “Bad” album and to help him launch the Bad Worldwide Tour, according to ABC.

The documentary will also showcase many interviews that were conducted by Spike Lee with Jackson’s friends, dancers, and collaborators. There are even interviews with Martin Scorsese, who directed Jackson’s “Bad” video, and Joe Pytka, who lead the “Heal the World” video. Lee was actually the director on one of Jackson’s videos as well. He directed the video for “They Don’t Care About Us” from his “HIStory” album.

Lee, who made the documentary to mark the album’s 25th anniversary, said that “This will be a very special Thanksgiving for all families to enjoy the genius of Michael Jackson.” He also thanked ABC for airing the documentary so that people everywhere can see just how the “Bad” album was made.

“Bad”, which was released on August 31st, 1987, was nominated for six Grammy awards and won two. There were numerous hits off the album, including the title track, and also “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man in the Mirror” and “Smooth Criminal.” There will be deluxe 25th anniversary editions of the album released to make the occasion.

The 25th anniversary of the album will officially be celebrated on September 18th 2012 with Legacy/Epic Records release of the previously mentioned deluxe 25th anniversary editions of the record.Michael Jackson with Spike Lee

Lee’s Documentary has already been seen at some film festivals, including in Toronto and Venice. The film is said to show a more intimate side of Jackson, one few have seen outside the glitter and “Circus-like atmosphere” that surrounded the king of pop. His personal life was completely full of scandal in the years that followed the release of “Bad.” We all know that Jackson was thoroughly dedicated to his music, his work, but in the documentary, we are able to see where he received his inspiration, and also get a glimpse of his sense of humor. The documentary also hints to what the pressure of his work ethic had on his mind.

Jackson died on June 25th, 2009, at 50 years of age, from acute propofol intoxication.
