Lucy Lawless smilingThe former star of “Xena: Warrior Princess” will be leaving the violent show “Spartacus” to join the residents of Pawnee on the NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation”. Lucy Lawless will be playing a single mother of Pawnee who needs the help of her Parks Department to solve a neighborhood problem. When Ron, played by Nick Offerman, and Andy, played by Chris Pratt, offer to help her, Andy senses some romantic tension between Lawless and Ron.

So far Lawless has been written into two of the hit show’s episodes. She tweeted about how thrilled she is to work with the crew and cast and that she is amazed by the writing and acting on the show. The episode is set to air on October 4th.

For the fans of the show, you may be disappointed to find out that her character’s name is not Tammy. The single mother’s name is Diane. This will be Lawless’ first role on TV since her character Lucretia died in the second season finale of “Spartacus.”

Last February, Lawless told The Huffington Post that she would love to be on “Parks and Recreation.” She was hoping to play one of Ron Swanson’s ex-wives, Tammy. She was not able to take a role at the time because she was still doing “Spartacus.” Though she says she would have loved to, she did get a second chance to guest star on the show.
