Submitted by on November 15, 2012 – 12:42 pm Comments

After years of being a frustrated bachelorette on the show, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) shall at last get married on the show this November. She shall be marrying her on-screen love interest Criss Chross (James Marsden). BC announced in a mock invitation on Thursday that “Ms. Elizabeth Miervaldis Lemon, 42, would be presenting herself to be married to Mr. Crisstopher Rick Chross” in the show’s November 29 episode. “But not in a creepy way that perpetuates the idea that brides are virgins and women are property” the announcement adds. The invitation also encourages guests to “bring your own snacks”. Liz Lemon’s list of past boyfriends have included, Carol Burnett (played by Matt Damon), immature businessman Dennis Duffy (Dean Winters) and dimwitted pediatrician Dr. Drew Baird (Jon Hamm).

For the uninitiated, 30 Rock is a comedy series created by Tina Fey and starring Fey and Alec Baldwin. The series, which is loosely based on Fey’s experiences as head writer for Saturday Night Live, takes place behind the scenes of a fictional live sketch comedy series depicted as airing on NBC. The series’ name refers to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the address of the GE Building, in which the NBC Studios are located.

30 Rock has been a critical success, winning several major awards (including Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2007, 2008, and 2009), and achieving the top ranking on myriad critics’ year-end best of 2006 and 2007 lists. On July 14, 2009, the series was nominated for 22 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most in a single year for a comedy series. On May 11, 2012, it was announced that NBC has renewed 30 Rock for an abbreviated 13-episode seventh and final season including an hour long series finale.

Coming back to Liz Lemon, in her longest onscreen relationship, Liz dates Criss Chros (James Marsden), a down-to-earth hot dog vendor named after a ’90s teen rap duo. Their relationship began sometime before season 6 and continued past the 6th season finale, in which she and Criss finally decide to try to have a baby together. Fey has reported incorporating some of her own quirks and history into the character of Liz Lemon, saying that she tries to “share as many of Liz’s habits as possible so it feels truthful”.
