James Earl Jones Is Back As Voice OF CNN
It was recently revealed that James Earl Jones has once again been roped in as the voice of CNN. Over the years people had grown accustomed to hearing Jones’s familiar baritone voice introducing the network, until one day the network felt his services were no more required. But, it seems the network realized people were missing that voice of his and therefore he has been brought back. Basically, CNN hasn’t been doing too well in the recent years due to the advent of a number of new, news channels. The problem it seems is that unlike most news channels nowadays, CNN is nonpartisan which is working against it.
People as a matter of fact want to watch news channels which are partisan leaning either on the left or the right. The basic point is audiences want opinions and point of views of different kinds on the news they are watching, as that makes it more interesting. Audiences today also love political debates and discussion on controversial matters. Also, if the news channel stands for the same beliefs and ideals you have, all the better. CNN realizes that this exodus in their viewership is a serious problem and is therefore probably going back to the basics. Going back to the basics also means hiring back the guy whose voice, a whole generation of people relate CNN with.

Ironically, Jones himself doesn’t watch CNN anymore and instead prefers MSNBC for his daily dose of news. He revealed this during a recent interview. “I’m always on MSNBC. I can’t get enough of it. I even venture into the right wing talk shows sometimes” Jones was basically quoted as saying. CNN will sure hope that Jones’s taste in news channels changes, now that he has been hired back. It would be interesting to see how else CNN evolves in the coming years to keep up with the competition and the changing times.
Basically, CNN has to understand that news today has become like reality television and people turn on a news channel as much for the information as they do for some entertainment. Interestingly, one of its reporters, Candy Crowley, acted as moderator for one of the three debates between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. Some conservatives viewed her as overly partisan due to her attempts at correcting statements by both candidates on the 2012 Benghazi consulate attack. Could it be possible, Candy supposedly taking sides is an indication, CNN too is becoming partisan, in order to keep up with the times?
