Here Come The Emmy’s!

Downton AbbeyTV is gearing up the one of its biggest nights, the Emmy’s! And from what we hear, there could be plenty of upsets in this year’s award show. So far, it is believed that “Downton Abbey” may be able to bring down the long reigning “Mad Men” and “Homeland” could also be in that running.

The race for the best drama series is definitely a close one, but this is also a great year for all those funny actresses out there. And this night could be packed with just as much drama and twists and turns as one of the plots you’d see on the television screen.

Todd Gold, the executive editor of Xfinity TV said that “What makes this year’s Emmys filled with such anticipation is that there are no easy predictions and that makes the show exciting.” He spoke about the 90′s and how, for a while, the show was very predictable and you knew just who would be winning what. This year that is all changed and it “reflects the strength and depth of TV across the board.”

The Primetime Emmy Awards is set to broadcast live on Sunday on ABC from Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the show this year. “Mad Men” is still hoping to win their fifth straight best drama from 17 nominations. “Downton Abbey” is right behind them with 16 nominations.

Tom O’Neil of the awards website, Goldderby.com, spoke about how most British imports do well here in the US. “Hollywood, like the rest of America, has a secret inferiority complex about all things British. ‘Downton Abbey’ did much better in the nominations than anyone thought. It could really do this.”Homeland

“Mad Men” came away from last week’s Creative Arts part of the Emmys empty handed, which may be a sign that the show will come away from this weekend’s awards without that coveted award. However, “Game of Thrones” was quite successful when it came to the Creative Arts, but that doesn’t mean they will do well in the Primetime portion.

“Breaking Bad” which is in its fifth and last season, “Boardwalk Empire”, “Game of Thrones”, and “Homeland” fill out the last of the best drama series choices. We’ll find out Sunday just what the 15,000 voters of the Television Academy feel is the actual best choice.

It is said that Claire Danes is sure to be a shoe-in for her role on “Homeland.” The actress plays a bipolar CIA agent who tracks down a US war hero who was turned by Muslim extremists. “Homeland” has nine nominations total and huge reviews for its cliffhangers, moral questions, and our post 9/11 suspicions.
