‘Good Morning America’ Shall See Robin Roberts Return On Feb 20

Good Morning America Robin Roberts returnFans of Good Morning America surely miss Robin Roberts.  She was an integral part of GMA and hence the news that she would be returning to the show on Feb 20, would really make both her fans and the fans of the show really happy. “I’m excited to re-join my wonderful ‘GMA’ family. I’m also looking forward to thanking YOU … for your many prayers and well wishes. Your compassion has been an enormous source of comfort to me and my family” wrote Robin in her blog, expressing her excitement at the fact that she would be returning to show.

For those unaware, in 2012 Roberts was diagnosed with MDS, myelodysplastic syndrome. She took a leave of absence from GMA to get a bone marrow transplant. After a successful transplant, she was sent back home in October 2012 and has been recuperating at home ever since. This wasn’t the first time Robin waged a war against a really serious ailment. In fact in 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and as result underwent surgery, chemotherapy sessions and radiation treatment. It has to be said that she showed a lot of gumption in combating such serious ailments and emerging successfully on the other side.

Interestingly, Roberts was initially a news anchor on GMA and her association with the show dates back to 1995. In 2005, Roberts was promoted as the co-anchor of the show. George Good Morning America Robin RobertsStephanopoulos joined Robin Roberts as Co-anchor in 2009 after Diane Sawyer left to anchor ABC World News Tonight. The collaboration between Roberts and Stephanopoulos worked wonders and led Good Morning America back to the top of the ratings. In fact, GMA became the No.1 morning show beating TODAY show, after nearly 12 years.

GMA has been around since 1975, when it premiered on ABC. The program features news, talk, weather and special-interest stories. Since Roberts’s absence, Amy Robach and 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas have served as the primary substitutes, typically switching off every other week. Others have also served as special guest anchors during this time, such as Kelly Ripa, Barbara Walters, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Now with Roberts’s imminent return, the show might become the No.1 morning show once again. In fact, on Feb 20 when she shall officially be seen for the first time on the show since her leave of absence, the ratings might go through the roof.
