Cee Lo Green Joins ‘Anger Management’

For fans of Cee Lo Green its good news, as they shall get to see more of him, because now he shall appear opposite Charlie Sheen on the sitcom ‘Anger Management’. The ‘Forget You’ singer will play a “heightened” version of himself on the FX comedy series, TVLine reports. In the show, Green’s character will turn to Sheen’s anger therapist Charlie Goodson for help with controlling his rage issues. On August 29, 2012 it was announced that the show would be picked up for a further 90 episodes. Also, Charlie Sheen’s real-life father Martin Sheen will reprise his role as Charlie Goodson’s on-screen dad in at least 20 of the ordered episodes.

For the uninitiated, Anger Management is a comedy series that premiered on FX on June 28, 2012. The series is based on the 2003 film of the same name and stars Charlie Sheen in a role similar to the one originated by Jack Nicholson from the film. Anger Management broke a ratings record with 5.74 million viewers in its series debut and ranks as the most-watched sitcom premiere in cable history. The series is Sheen’s first acting role since he was officially fired from the hit CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.

In the show, Charlie is a former baseball player. In his final game, he gave himself a career-ending injury when he tried to snap a bat over his leg in anger. He becomes an anger management therapist and runs a successful private practice. His life is complicated by an ex-wife and a teenage daughter who has obsessive-compulsive disorder. Interestingly, Julie Benz, Jenica Bergere, Elaine Hendrix, Kate Reinders and ‘Nicole Hiltz’ were tested for lead roles in the series.

Cee Lo Green on his part is currently a vocal coach on the NBC reality talent show The Voice with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. Also, Cee Lo is starring and executive producing his own family comedy on NBC. He also starred in the Columbia and Sony Pictures Animation movie, Hotel Transylvania as Murray the Mummy. In 2013 he shall be seen in the comedy film ‘Can a Song Save Your Life?’.
