Most of us know Bear Grylls as the host of the show Man Vs Wild. In every episode of the show Grylls was put in hostile environments in different parts of the world and his job was to get out of those situations all by himself, with only Mother Nature to aid him. Audiences were amazed by his survival skills and the show made him a huge celebrity worldwide. Then in March last year he had a contract dispute with Discovery and parted ways with the channel. No doubt, the channel might have felt the pinch, as he was probably the most popular host on the channel. This is probably the reason why, it seems the channel and Grylls have patched up.

Basically, Grylls shall be hosting a new show for Discovery Networks International. It is slated to be a six-episode series and has been aptly named ‘Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivors’. In the show, Grylls for a change would be interviewing people who managed to survive extremely hostile environments like the Amazon, the European Alps, and the North African desert, where they were stranded. There couldn’t have been a better host for the show, as Grylls would be able to empathize with these people and would really understand where they are coming from.

But, if you think Grylls’s job would only be to interview these people, you are sorely mistaken. For the show, Grylls would in fact be stranded in the very same environments from which these people managed to survive. Surely, these situations wouldn’t prove to be more challenging than some of the situations Grylls already has been in, during his stint with Man Vs Wild.

“I am super excited to be working with Discovery again — the channel where the Man Vs. Wild journey began,” said Grylls, in a statement.  “Ultimate Survivors, and any future endeavors, will be intense — but that’s where the fun is! Man Vs. Wild took me to some of the toughest climates and terrains out there, and this new series is an exciting evolution of that. The aim is to follow incredible real-life survival stories and demonstrate dynamic life-saving know-how along the way”. Well, fans of Grylls must be overjoyed that they shall get to see him in action once again. Unfortunately, his fans in North America would be deprived of the opportunity to witness his return, as the new show will air in 217 markets outside North America.
