BBC Exec Talks ‘Doctor Who’ Anniversary
Doctor Who fans are praying and keeping their fingers crossed hoping that the show’s anniversary would be celebrated in a grand fashion. In other words, the makers of the show shall present something that will blow their minds away. Well, if BBC exec Ben Stephenson is to be believed, BBC is planning to do exactly that.
He revealed that the anniversary will be celebrated in such a fashion that it will “unite all the fans across the world”. It sounds really promising and big doesn’t it? He was further was quoted as saying “Doctor Who is an international brand, and this year marks its 50th anniversary. That is a really exciting moment for the BBC at home and abroad. We haven’t revealed yet what we are doing, but it will be an absolutely enormous, very, very ambitious event”.

Fans would be disappointed that Stephenson didn’t reveal much, but he sure has raised the bar of their expectations. One can only hope that BBC manages to live up to the expectation and anticipation its creating around the anniversary celebrations. One thing that has been confirmed though is the fact that the 50th Anniversary show will be filmed in 3D, which is pretty exciting news.
Rumors have been rife for quite some time now that, on the Doctor Who Anniversary show, many of the actors who have essayed the role of Doctor Who in the past would be making an appearance. It has to be hurriedly added that, this news hasn’t been officially confirmed by anyone involved with the show. As a matter of fact Colin Baker, who played the sixth Doctor Who, recently shot down the rumors by clarifying that he hasn’t been recalled for the anniversary show. Fans are also eagerly waiting for the new season of Doctor Who which shall commence on March 30.
