Jason Bateman, who played the father, Michael Bluth in the Fox TV series, recently tweeted images of his TV show son, Michael Cera, on the new set of the show. Cera played Bateman’s teenage son, George Michael, over six years ago in the hit series.  Along with Bateman and Cera, the show also starred some other big names, including David Cross, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter. They portray a rather dysfunctional family under investigation for business fraud.

These images come only a few weeks after Bateman and the show’s executive producer and narrator Ron Howard both tweeted that production of the fourth season of the show would begin soon. Fans could not be happier. Many have been waiting the six and a half years since the show ended for news like this to come out.

The show, which aired from November of 2003 to February 2006 on Fox was always a favorite with critics but had low ratings while it aired. Many critics at the time even referred to the show as the very best on TV. The show earned six Emmy’s and even a Golden Globe during its short, three season run. It was even included in Time’s magazine’s “100 Best TV Shows of ALL TIME.” Even though it had poor ratings during those three seasons, “Arrested Development” now has a huge cult following and numerous fan based web-sites. During the show’s second season, a website was even created for fans to show their loyalty to “Arrested Development.”

It is because of this loyal group of fans that Netflix has decided to air the late fourth season. In October 2011, the entire cast reunited at the New Yorker Festival. While there, the series creator, Mitchell Hurwitz, announced the new season and movie that would soon follow. Ten episodes will be filmed over the next few months and will stream all at once in early 2013. It has been rumored that each episode will focus on a different member of the dysfunction Bluth family. These episodes will then lead into a movie based on the show. There has been talk since the show ended in 2006 of other networks picking up the series and also of a possible movie.

Fans are thrilled that production has now actually begun. Thanks goes to Ron Howard and Jason Bateman for keeping us up to date on the “Arrested Development” happenings. We couldn’t be more excited.
