‘Anger Management’ Hit Record Ratings

charlie sheen pointingCharlie Sheen has been the subject of allot of controversy over the last few years, however he is taking the time let us know “I’m not crazy anymore.”  Thanks for that update there Mr. Sheen.  Sheen recently signed a deal halfway through the initial 10 episodes, for at least 90 episodes for “Anger Management” and he is certain that will not be enough. His character therapist appropriately named Charlie Goodman, is a very non-traditional anger management therapist, with a very successful practice.

We follow Goodman through his comical weekly group sessions with his regular clients, some private sessions and even some at the local prison (Oh My!). Though it would not be complete with Goodman having his own anger “issues”, a former minor league baseball player going nowhere fast  due to his own battle with anger.  After undergoing therapy Goodman makes the majors, however his anger issues sneak up on him when he fails to break a bat over his leg, sustaining a game ending injury. The irony in this show is the ever constant madness in Goodman’s life whilst he teaches others how to cope with their anger.

Critics down play the show for being very similar to ‘Two and a Half Men‘, the show Sheen left after a “falling out” (if you would call a challenge to fight in the Octagon made on TMZ ” a simple falling out”) with creator Chuck Lorre. Fans of Sheen however do not seem to care about similarities as long as they can still watch Sheen do what he does best, make everyone laugh even if the humor now is more “risqué” then on ‘Men’.

So with “Anger Management” being such a success the question now poses was he ever really totally crazy? Or was he just an actor who had been repressed for far too long and like a rebellious teenager lashed out at his boss? With the upcoming casting addition of Sheen’s Father Martin, we will see how “Anger Management” will play out. Having more control of your own show, should have a significant impact on how long we will see it run and as long as it does there will be plenty of people there to laugh with him.

If you are interested in making your own comparisons between “Two and a Half Men” and “Anger Management” it airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on FX. Since it was inspired by the 2003 Adam Sandler/ Jack Nicholson movie of the same name, if you liked that, you should not be disappointed.
