Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig Will Be Missed From New SNL Season

Andy Samberg Kristen WiigThis year will be a first for Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig, who are not getting ready for the new season of “Saturday Night Live.” That’s because the pair will not be returning to the show this year. But that does not mean that the stars are used to it yet.

The 34 year old Samberg said that he will definitely miss it a lot in an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday. He was at the premiere of Hotel Transylvania at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Samberg said that he is in touch with many of his former castmates and he keeps finding himself thinking about the show’s upcoming sketches. He says that he would have loved to have been there. He has no idea as of yet if he will be making guest appearances on the show, but he does hope that he will be able to and says that he thinks it would be fun.

Samberg announced in June that he would be leaving the show, and stated that he felt like the time was just right. He had discussed the decision with many of his close friends, a few of which have been on the show before. Samberg said that him and Kristen talked about it often as well and it came to the point where he realized that he would not be returning.

The 39 year old Wiig is also having a little bit of a hard time adjusting to her new routine. She said it was a big change and it’s hard. At the TIFF premiere of “Imogene” (Wiig’s new comedy with Annette Bening and Darren Criss) Wiig said “It’s really hard.”

In May, the “Bridesmaids” star told Alec Baldwin on his “Here’s the Thing” podcast, “You have to leave things that you love.” And it will be different to see the show without two of the funniest castmates. But leaving does have its perks as well. Samberg said that he was able to take a three week vacation for the first time in over five years. That is definitely a bonus.

Samberg and Wiig will be plenty though, as both stars are now appearing regularly on the big screen. Samberg’s film “That’s My Boy” hit theaters this summer. And with Wiig’s “Bridesmaids” under her belt, there are sure to be numerous other films to star in.Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudekis

It is also rumored that Jason Sudeikis may also be leaving the show. But who is going to fill in all these gaps? When the 38th season of “Saturday Night Live” begins this fall, two new castmates will be joining, Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson. Bryant has previously worked with the current castmember Vanessa Bayer on Second City. Robinson has previously appeared on the CBS Show “Friend Me” and was also the lead in BBC’s “Nice Day for a Welsh Wedding.”

Though this new season will be different without Samberg and Wiig, it’s sure to be hilarious as well. Especially with the lineup of upcoming guest hosts, it’s bound to be comedic genius.
