Snoop Dogg Is Reborn And Moves To Reggae

snoop dogg posingMost of us have experienced a spiritual rebirth at some point or another. But most of us have not felt the need to change our name afterwards. But the famous rapper, Snoop Dogg did just that. After a recent visit to Jamaica, the superstar said he’s tried of rapping and feels that he has gone as far as he can go in that genre. He said it’s time to begin a new profession and he wants a fresh start.

And that fresh start? A new reggae album entitled Reincarnation and the new name of Snoop Lion. He has said the name Lion was bestowed upon him by a priest during his recent visit to Jamaica where Snoop found his inner Rastafarian. Now that his third eye is finally open, Snoop is dropping Dogg for Lion. This reborn Rastafarian is also saying he is Bob Marley reincarnated. Snoop, your third eye may now be open, but might want to also open your first two. This whole thing is a bit weird and we’re all wondering what magical marijuana started this whole revelation.

Snoop said he wants to bury the Dogg. Rap is no longer a challenge for him and there isn’t too much more he can do or accomplish in that genre. He said he wants to feel like a kid again. Well Snoop, you hit the nail on the head there. My three year old changes her name all the time! One second she’s “Tangled” and the next, she’s “Ramonica.”

One thing I do commend him on is the fact that he’s sick of the profanity, sex and violence that comes along with rap and hip hop. He said reggae is the music of love and he’s excited to be able to perform for his children and family. Way to go Snoop. I have nothing bad to say there.

I guess it’s just hard for someone like to me to understand his transformation and the need for a new name. But, to help us know how this all came about, a DVD documentary showing his spiritual rebirth and name change will be included in the new cd. So we actually get to watch this whole transformation take place. I still don’t think I’ll get it though.

And to be honest, I don’t think this whole name change thing will last. I do think it’s awesome that he’s doing the Reggae album and I will be purchasing it for sure. But we’ve all come to know and love Snoop Dogg. I really have a hard time believing this name change will catch on. You kind of have to wonder if it’s not some kind of stunt to boost record sales. I hope not.  You’re better than that Snoop!

So yes, we will be purchasing your new album Snoop. And I’m crazy excited to hear your Reggae. And I’m way excited to see how you’ve reinvented yourself. Good for you for wanting a challenge and for wanting to be better. But I don’t think I’ll ever call you Snoop Lion. It just doesn’t flow quite like Snoop Dogg.
