‘Sleepless In San Diego’: Jason Russell Explains Naked Outburst
When I was little my Mother gave me lots of advice, but the one that she always fell back on was, “Get lots of rest, and drink plenty of fluids.” This was mostly her advice for when I got a cold or had a sore throat, even when I told her that my husband and I were expecting our first baby. So when I see the story of Jason Russell (the guy that pranced around flailing his arms NAKED on March 15 in San Diego) and read the reason for his behavior in a statement that his family gave CNN, “The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis, an acute state brought on by extreme exhaustion, stress and dehydration.”
The advice my Mother gave me so often came back to me and all I could think was, “My Mother has saved me from making a fool of myself in front of millions of strangers and embarrassing my family at the same time” Who would have thought that a lack of adequate rest and water could be so important? I say this very sarcastically in my mind, and I know you aren’t in there with me so I feel I should write it as well. Now I am narrating myself, sorry back to the topic. If you are unaware of whom Jason Russell is, he is a co-founder / chief creative officer of Invisible Children a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to bring awareness to the activities of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in Central Africa, and its leader, Joseph Kony.

Russell is also the director of a documentary about a notorious Ugandan warlord released on March 5 that promptly went viral on YouTube. In the statement CNN received from Jason Russell’s family they say “We thought a few thousand people would see the film, but in less than a week, millions of people around the world saw it. While that attention was great for raising awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought a lot of attention to Jason — and, because of how personal the film is, many of the attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard,”
Ok, I understand that it must be shocking to be thrust into the light all of a sudden, but many other people have (we call them celebrity) had the same thing happen to them. Well not exactly the same or we would have had a lot of crazy naked people running around, so they must have remembered to sleep, eat and drink. Good for them!
