Pauley D. Earns $11 Million!

pauley d and crewOne of the latest headlines literally made me do a double take. DJ Pauly D earned WHAT in the past year? $11 million? My jaw has dropped. The reality show star’s resume leaves much to be desired, yet he is still able to make bank. The Rhode Island native first became a household name back in 2009 when he was selected to join MTV’s reality series, “Jersey Shore.” Prior to his TV debut, Paul DelVecchio worked at a car dealership and DJed nights and weekends in small clubs for a few hundred dollars a night.

Here we are three years later and his name is everywhere. He has his very own TV show and earns a whopping $40,000 per DJ gig. He even opened for Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale tour. Pauly D’s $11 million has earned him a spot on FORBES’ top-earning DJs list. The number 7 spot, to be exact.

Many were skeptical of Pauly D’s talents at first, categorizing him as simply a reality star, but many are taking notice now. He is an actual DJ. In addition to DJing, Pauly has also launched his out clothing line, Dirty Couture, created a tanning lotion called Pauly D Bronze Beats, and even has a spinoff series called “The Pauly D Project.”

Earlier this year he announced that he’ll be launching a beverage called REMIX Pre-Game Cocktails. He also has unveiled plans for an SMS Audio headphone line with 50 Cent. Needless to say Pauly D is keeping busy.

So my take on all this. It is a little bit ridiculous.  As a friend of mine said on Facebook “Why did I go to school? I should have just gotten drunk pauley d in picture opand made out with people on TV so I could make my own “lines” of stuff. Duh!”

But I do have to admit that I am a fan (as I go hide my face in shame.) I have loved “Jersey Shore” since its second season and it is no wonder that Pauly D is one of the highest paid cast members, along with Snooki. He is quite the comedian, and very down to earth. He is also a very loyal and honest friend to the other house mates. You can’t help but like him.

So even though part of me thinks he is ridiculously over paid, another part can’t help but think he does kind of rock so, good for him. This whole thing also makes me wonder what I could accomplish with the right kind of reality show… then again, there’s nothing really exciting about my life. And this is the reason I’m such a fan of shows like “Jersey Shore.”
