Top Three Contenders for Christian Grey

Submitted by on August 27, 2012 – 11:01 am Comments

Alexander SkarsgardThe “50 Shades of Grey” film now has three men in the running for the role of Christian Grey. Surprisingly, Ian Somerhalder is not one of them.  Somerhalder had tried hard to land the role, and had even told some fans of “The Vampire Diaries” that he would be auditioning for it. But Somerhalder is nowhere to be found on the list of favorites for the role on PolicyMic.

Those who did make the cut? Alexander Skarsgard, the “True Blood” star; the “Man of Steel” himself, Henry Cavill; and none other than Ryan Gosling are all in the running to play Anastasia Steele’s wicked love interest. Rumor has it Gosling is the number one choice. And honestly, who could complain?

The list created by PolicyMic is simply opinion. There is no evidence that any of these dashing men have been approached to work on the project in any way. Keep in mind that producers may be checking out what names are being thrown around on the internet and they could very well be thinking about these hunks as viable options.

Skarsgardand Cavill both have very sexy fragrance ads that fans have used to prove that they can be beguiling and brooding just like the fictional billionaire. Cavill is likely to be sought after, with his new role as Superman coming to the big screen. We all know that Skargard can ooze sex appeal. He is quite capable of smoldering as he plays Eric Northman, the lustful, hungry vampire that we all know and love.

Ryan Gosling

Many have said that though Ryan Gosling is definitely a fan favorite, few feel that he could pull off Christian Grey. Some think he’s too sweet and soft. He’s more often than not the good guy, the one who pulls the girl in close and tight and kisses her like she’s never been kissed before… okay, so maybe he could pull it off. Maybe.

Though Somerhalder is not on the list for the top contestants, he very well could still be in the running. He is actively campaigning for the role. If only the movie producers would let us know who they have in mind. I wonder how films would go if fans were actively involved in who plays our favorite characters. I know “Twilight” would have been different!
