hugh jackman as wolverine walkingHugh Jackman has announced that “Wolverine” will be a standalone film. Even if it is a sequel by some standards because “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was not up to snuff they want to distance the film from the first one as much as possible. The film will host an all new cast aside from Hugh Jackman who is making his sixth appearance as Wolverine which is a record. The film will be set in Japan and feature less mutants so as not to be overwhelming while still maintaining an epic story line.

The film had hit a production delay since the tsunami last year and a director change, but is finally underway in Japan and Australia. The Film will have Wolverine travel to Japan on an adventure of self-discovery, which will help when he has to go up against the mutant villain known as The Silver Samurai (Will Yun Lee). The Silver Samurai has the ability to cut through ANYTHING including adamantium, the very metal Logan’s claws are made out of. It has also been recently reported that Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Svetlana Khodchenkova will also play some kind of role in the film as well. The script was written by Christopher McQuarrie and then rewritten by Mark Bomback.

Jessica Biel is said to be offered a role as Viper, one of Logan’s love interests in the Marvel Comics according hugh jackman wolverine posingto Twitch. However, like everything it seems in Hollywood, nothing is really set in stone. This would be a great addition to the story as Viper was a crucial role in the comic book series and Biel is the type of actress who can pull it off. When you have so many actresses in Hollywood, it can be hard to find the one that is going to have the “it factor” and it is easy to see that Biel has just that.

Some have feared that “The Wolverine” is going to be a mess, but other franchises have done this kind of thing in the past. When one movie doesn’t go according to plan, you reboot it. Hence, we have Spiderman. The change of venue and directors have all been hard on the film, but with a new look at it, the people in charge are hopeful that things will go right. “The Wolverine” will arrive into in theaters on July 26, 2013 and will be sure to keep us on the edge of our seats, as anything that features the wolverine in it, ladies are likely to go see it because Jackman is going to be going shirt less for some of the scenes. Hopefully everything goes smooth from her on in. It is never fun to see a franchise fail.
