“Terminator Salvation” Director McG And Kevin Costner Team Up

Submitted by on October 3, 2012 – 1:00 pm Comments

Oscar-Winner Kevin Costner and “Terminator Salvation” director McG are teaming up for a project that is as yet untitled. It is going to be a thriller and shall be jointly produced by EuropaCorp and Relativity Media. The screenplay is by Luc Besson (“Taken”) and Adi Hasak (“From Paris With Love”). So you can already begin to imagine how enticing the action and the thrills can get.

Kevin on his part is no stranger to action films and is also known for his chops in acting, the amalgamation of the two would surely work wonders. If you need any proof, watch Taken, if haven’t already watched it. You might argue that ‘Taken’ doesn’t have Costner in it, but it does have another veteran Liam Neeson, who is possibly as great an actor as Kevin Costner is and the both of them are nearly the same age. So, if Liam could pull off an action film like ‘Taken’ convincingly why should it be any different for Kevin?

In fact Kevin Costner was one of the biggest stars at one point in time, and still is quite know world over; which is also something that would work in the movie’s favor. The story is of a Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner (Costner), who is diagnosed with a terminal disease, he as a result attempts to retire so he can reconnect with his estranged family. However, his bosses offer him an experimental drug that could save his life, but only if he takes on one last, deadly assignment.

The story promises a lot of action, but would also give Costner some amount of scope to portray emotions. Although, it is a given that, with a guy like Luc Besson involved with the screenplay, the action in the film would possibly be more than the dialogues. EuropaCorp on its part is known for making fast paced thrillers like ‘Taken’ and the ‘Transporter’ series. In addition, the company manages to make these engaging thrillers on a reasonably low budget. Costner’s motivation behind accepting a role in this kind of a movie would surely be to make his presence felt as an action hero, just like Liam Neeson and Sylvester Stallone have managed to, in recent times.
