Stephen King Adaptation To Be Headed By ‘Sinister’ Director

Submitted by on October 16, 2012 – 1:00 pm Comments

‘Sinister’ as we all know is already making waves, and has just the right amount of horror to scare you this Halloween. The movie is basically about a crime novelist who finds footage which helps him realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity. Well, if the concept sounds interesting, the credit for it should to an extent go its director Scott Derrickson, who is also one of the writers.

Besides, he has also done a great job directing the movie. Therefore it can only be perceived as good news that, Scott has been chosen to helm a film adapted from a Stephen King novella. It’s basically being adapted from King’s Different Seasons collection. The story is set within an exclusive gentleman’s club, in which membership is paid by the telling of stories. One such tale follows the plight of a woman in the ‘30s, who seeks out a doctor famed for his “breathing method” of childbirth, in order to deliver her illegitimate child.

For this movie Derrickson shall reportedly be teaming up with Jason Blum’s, Blumhouse Pictures. Blumhouse Pictures is the very same company that was involved in the making of Paranormal Activity. Therefore you can see its horror pedigree all the way. The script of the film is going to be written by Scott Teems, who doesn’t really have too much experience as far as writing horror is concerned, but surely he shall have Derrickson’s complete assistance.

As far as Stephen King novels at concerned, many of them have been made into films and have gone on to become classics. Movies like ‘The Shawshak Redemption’, ‘The Green Mile’, ‘Stand By Me’, ‘Apt Pupil’ and many more. But, there are also many Stephen King novels which are in line for being made into films, but are stuck due to various reasons, in the development stage. One can only hope that, Derrickson on his part does not face any issues while trying to make the movie that he is planning to make. Here’s wishing him luck.
