‘Skyfall’ Writer John Logan Pitching For Two-Part James Bond Tale

Submitted by on October 29, 2012 – 1:04 pm Comments

“Skyfall” doesn’t open in North America for at least a few more days, but Bond’s latest adventure is already creating waves overseas. The 23rd Bond film grossed $77.7 million in its international debut, topping the box office charts in 25 countries. So you can already imagine the kind of reception it will receive in the US and the rest of North America. In fact, it might not be surprising if it breaks a few records and goes on to become one of the highest grossing Bond film, of all time.

Then, there is the hallowed, Billion Dollar worldwide collection mark, which has become a benchmark for nearly every successful Hollywood film nowadays. It would be interesting to note how quickly the new Bond film crosses this mark, or whether it falls short of this achievement, all together. Also it turns out, the movie is seeing unprecedented success in the U.K. and has already collected $32.4 million a 30 percent increase from the opening of “Quantum of Solace” in 2008 and the second-biggest opening ever for the country, behind only “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″.

Well the reasons mentioned above are quite enough for ‘Skyfall’ writer John Logan to try and pitch to Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson for a two-part tale. John Logan has reportedly etched out how the story would go, and if green-lighted, it would be the first Bond film to be made in two parts. A two parter would also mean twice the earning potential and twice the audience eagerness to see what will happen next.

Coming back to the collections of ‘Skyfall’, its being touted that when the movie opens in the U.S on Nov 9th it would earn at least around $80 million, breaking the record of the previous Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ which had collected $67.5 million in its opening weekend. It would be interesting to see, the new heights ‘Skyfall’ manages to achieve in terms of collections world over, including North America once it releases there.  For the uninitiated, in ‘Skyfall’ Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
