Shall We See Doctor Strange In Thor: The Dark World?

Submitted by on September 11, 2012 – 11:00 am Comments

The new Thor movie probably tops the list of the films being looked forward to the most, in 2013.   After the first installment and The Avengers, one can’t really blame the fans if they want to know and latch on to every news and speculation that comes their way about the new installment. Therefore a speculation or even a suggestion that, a popular character from the Marvel universe might just make an appearance in the film is enough, to send any true blue fan, into a tizzy.

At the present moment, this news is nothing more than a rumor, but rumors have a strange way of turning into facts. The rumor basically stems from a Twitter account registered to one Roger Wardell who previously leaked the news that Falcon would be appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as confirming Sebastian Stan’s return as Bucky Barnes. This time round he has revealed “Inside News: There’s something “Strange” about Thor: The Dark World” in his first tweet. “Inside News: Marvel is negotiations with Viggo Mortensen for an unspecified role in one of their Phase 2 films” claims the second.

It obviously is a case of putting two and two together, but the conclusion that one can come to, is pretty obvious. Also, going by the name of the new installment, it seems like Thor shall encounter some dark forces from beyond and might therefore need the good doctor’s help to combat them. It has to be hurriedly added that, the two Tweets might not even be related to each other, but Mortensen playing Doctor Strange would be a real treat. The Oscar nominated actor has the skills and the looks that, would fit the role perfectly.

Besides, it’s been speculated for years that Marvel is thinking of making a movie on Doctor Strange, and what better platform to launch the character from, than the new Thor movie. It would even otherwise be a great idea, as it would offer Marvel the opportunity to launch a completely new franchise, with a character that is highly intriguing and enigmatic at the same time.
