Ridley Scott Talks Prometheus 2 & Bladerunner 2

Submitted by on October 12, 2012 – 12:00 pm Comments

Recently, Ridley Scott was asked about the possibility of a sequel, regarding two of his best films Prometheus and Bladerunner. When asked about the possibility of a Prometheus sequel, he described Promethus as having “evolved into a whole other universe”. In other words it means that, there is plenty of scope to play around with the story, if there were to be a sequel. “You’ve got a person [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] with a head in a bag [Michael Fassbender’s ethically questionable android David] that functions and has an IQ of 350. It can explain to her how to put the head back on the body and she’s gonna think about that long and hard because, once the head is back on his body, he’s dangerous” he added, stating where exactly things stand.

Seems like Scott is really giving the story a thought, which can only mean good news for Prometheus fans who are eagerly waiting to see, what next. The sequel if it gets made, could delve into anything from the origin of the engineers, to a planet where Rapace’s character lands, with David’s head to give her company. Scott as a matter of fact dropped hints when he said “They’re going off to paradise but it could be the most savage, horrible place. Who are the Engineers?”

Scott was then asked about the news of a Bladerunner sequel doing the rounds, and if it was only a rumor. He instantly confirmed that a sequel is in the offing by saying “It’s not a rumor – it’s happening. With Harrison Ford? I don’t know yet. Is he too old? Well, he was a Nexus-6 so we don’t know how long he can live. And that’s all I’m going to say at this stage.”

The question is; would Bladerunner be the same without Ford? Those of you who are of today’s generation probably wouldn’t mind him not being in the sequel, but those of you who have grown up seeing his movies and were a big fan of Bladerunner, probably would miss him if he isn’t cast. The good thing though, is the fact that there is strong possibility of the both movies having a sequel.
