A Good Day To Die Hard‘Live Free Or Die Hard’ was the last film in the franchise and although it was a pretty decent film it did not do as well as expected, at the box office. The movie had a PG-13 rating, which in other words meant it did not have the kind of blood and gore one expects from a Die Hard film. If you don’t see Bruce Willis’s John McLane getting beaten to pulp, breaking his bones and oozing blood from all over his body, it just doesn’t remind you of the Die Hard of old.

Probably the makers of the franchise too realized this and have therefore reverted back to the old formula that used to work so well. Hence, the latest in the franchise ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’ has been given an R-rating. This can only mean the movie has the same kind of extreme violence that we have come to expect of a Die Hard film. In this new film, McLane shall be going to Russia in order to help out his son, who he feels is in trouble because he is wayward. But, once there he discovers that his son is a CIA undercover operative, who is trying to prevent a nuclear-heist from taking place. Obviously you can guess what happens next. Yup, you got that right, the father-son duo team up to prevent the heist and on the way, kick some ass.

Interestingly, Aaron Paul, Liam Hemsworth, James Badge Dale, Paul Walker, Ben Foster, Shiloh Fernandez, Milo Ventimiglia, Paul Dano, Steven R. McQueen, and D.J. Cotrona were A Good Day To Die Hard R-ratingconsidered to play John McClane’s son. The role ultimately was earned by Jai Courtney. It is after all a coveted role, as the movie has the potential to become a huge hit and launch the career of whoever stars in it alongside Bruce Willis.

Also, this film is going to even bigger than the previous ones, because it’s the first Die Hard film slated to be released in IMAX. So you can imagine, the bangs will be louder and you shall clearly be able to see blood splattering and the body parts flying all over the place. Probably, this is one more reason why the movie has been given an R-rating, as the makers feel the whole experience might be a bit overwhelming to take for anyone less than an adult, now that it’s releasing in IMAX.
