Ashton Kutcher recently Tweeted “I Love New Delhi” which is a proof that he is shooting in India for the Steve Jobs Biopic. Besides that a picture of him making his way through the streets of Old Delhi is doing the rounds of the social networking sites. The photo was in fact also published by a leading Indian newspaper. A part of the movie is being shot in India, because a movie on Steve’s life would be incomplete without including in it, the chapter of his visit to India.

It probably helped mould him into the person, he eventually became, when in 1973 he all of 18, paid India a visit. He was possibly in search of some enlightenment and curious about the meaning of life, the answer to which he was hoping to get from an Indian mystic named Neem Karoli Baba. Unfortunately when he reached the mystic’s ashram, Steve discovered that he had died the earlier year. He then searched out another mystic named Hariakhan Baba.

His search basically took him to the capital of India, and hence today after nearly four decades Kutcher is in the Indian capital of New Delhi, in order to film and reenact the very incidents that had transpired in Steve’s life then. It has also been reported that, Kutcher is staying in the upscale Claridges Hotel in Delhi. The biopic is being directed by Joshua Michael Stern and produced and financed by Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme.

Rumors were rife that Mila Kunis was also accompanying Ashton, on this trip of his, making it something of a work cum pleasure trip, but it has been confirmed Kutcher is only being accompanied by his father Larry, at least for the time being. Earlier, Kutcher filmed a couple of shots, in a place called Vrindavan, in India.  The scenes depict Kutcher meeting someone and consequently attaining enlightenment.

It would be interesting to see how the end product turns out to be and if it gets the coveted nod from the Academy, because we all know how much the Academy loves a biopic. Therefore, Kutcher has gotten his job cut out for him, and if he eventually manages to bag the golden statuette for his role or even get nominated, it would mean that he has arrived as a serious actor.
