Grace Kelly BiopicRecently, Monaco’s Prince Albert and his two sisters publicly denounced the forthcoming biopic based on their mother Grace Kelly.  The movie shall see Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly. The royals on their part have termed the film as “pure fiction”. Basically, Albert with his sisters released a joint statement that said: “We have had absolutely no association with this project, which claims to be about the lives of our parents. For us, this film does not constitute a biographical work but portrays only a part of her life and has been pointlessly glamorized and contains important historical inaccuracies as well as scenes of pure fiction”.

What the statement claims might in part be true, but what also has to be considered is that the royals who have made the statement are Grace’s children and they wouldn’t want any embarrassing details about their mother’s life to become public. Therefore it is a smart move on the part of the royals to denounce the film even before its release, so audiences treat the film as pure fiction. But, the issue is, whether the events in the film are true or not and despite the royals claiming they aren’t people who watch the film would still probably like to believe that they are true, especially if the things shown in the film are interesting and juicy.

For those unaware, Grace’s Kelly was a popular Hollywood actress in the 50’s and at the peak of her stardom; she left Grace Kelly Biopic Monaco royalsHollywood to marry Monaco’s Prince Rainier III in 1956. At that time, the whole thing was termed as nothing short of a fairy tale, where a beautiful princess who ruled millions of hearts, was whisked away by a prince, from a land far far away. As far as the movie is concerned, it’s slated for a 2014 release. The movie will reportedly highlight Grace’s life in the first few years in Monaco.

The film reportedly centers on the period in 1962 when Monaco and France were in dispute, with Grace playing a vital role in helping to avoid a coup. It seems that the movie would show Grace in a rather positive light, this should be reason enough for the royals to calm down and no longer vent their ire, even if the movie isn’t completely factual. Kidman on her part explained her reasons for being a part of the film and was quoted as saying “It reveals her great humanity but also her fears and frailties as she leaves her career behind.”
