Kickass 2 Director Hints At Jim Carrey Being Onboard

The first part of ‘Kickass’ was kickass, pun intended. It is debatable if a big name like Nicholas Cage really brought much to the table when it came to the success of the movie or not. Despite that, it would interest many to know who loved ‘Kickass’, Jim Carrey another big name, is being tossed around for the second part of this comic book turned movie. There is no direct mention of his name anywhere, just that the director of the movie Jeff Wadlow recently Tweeted “6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f’n then!”

It is the use of the expression ‘alrighty then’ which has fuelled this speculation. ‘Alrighty then’ as you all know was popularly used by Ace Ventura the very famous pet detective played by Carrey. Carrey on his part is no stranger to playing a character from a comic book, in a movie. He in fact, managed to give his own unique spin to the villainous character of ‘Riddler’ in ‘Batman Forever’. It would be interesting to see, if Carrey is really the one who has been chosen to play the role of the Colonel, and as to how he essays it. The character of The Colonel is described as a “showy supporting role,” who “helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil”; which in other words means that it’s a positive character.

If Carrey is the one playing it, people will surely remember ‘The Colonel’ for better or for worse. It would also be interesting to see if ‘The Colonel’ has any actions scenes and if he does how Carrey is made to go about them.  The familiar faces from the previous installment would obviously be there, with Cage still playing ‘Big Daddy’ and Aaron Johnson playing ‘Kick-Ass’.

Many of the other actors from the first movie would also be returning. The movie is slated for release on June of 2013, which means the makers will have to soon confirm or deny Carrey’s involvement. Its better if its sooner than later, as people might start believing and looking forward to seeing Carrey in the movie, and it would be a huge letdown for many if he isn’t a part of the movie in the end.
