Jack Black reuniting with ‘School of Rock’ director
Jack Black shall reportedly be collaborating with Richard Linklater the director of ‘School Of Rock’ for a new project. ‘School of Rock’ on its part became quite a cult film, besides seeing a huge amount of popularity, both critically and commercially. The story of the film is about a wannabe rock star in need of cash, who poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school, and tries to turn his class into a rock band. Black played the part of the wannabe rock star, and played it really well, one must say.
Then in 2011, Black collaborated with Linklater once again for a movie called ‘Bernie’. The movie was all in all a comedy, but with a twist. It basically had a dark underbelly to it, and the duo of Black and Linklater managed to work their magic once again. The story of the film is set in small-town Texas, where the local mortician strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow, though when he kills her, he goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive. Black played the role of the mortician and brought out a dark and an insane side to his character.

Hence, with two fairly successful collaborations under their belt, it was only a matter of time before the two collaborated once again. In fact, Jack Black even revealed a bit about their third project when he recently told The Los Angeles Times “It’s about a guy who gives up everything to be a professional bowler”. It can safely be assumed that, the film would be a comedy, but just like the previous two films, there would surely be something more to the whole story, than it simply being funny.
Fans of Black and Linklater would surely be waiting intently, for them to reveal some more details about this possible project. On the other hand, it might come as a bit a disappointment to fans of Black and ‘School of Rock’ that, a sequel to ‘School of Rock’ is unlikely to happen. Black recently confirmed this. Linklater on his part has recently wrapped the third installment in his trilogy of romantic films starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, Before Midnight.
