The Amazing Spiderman 2 Paul Giamatti Play RhinoWe all know how great an actor Paul Giamatti is therefore his inclusion in Spiderman 2 can only be considered good news. He shall be essaying the role of the super villain Rhino it has been reported. Surely, those who know what Rhino is all about must be pretty surprised with the choice. For those unaware, Rhino is a man named Aleksei Mikhailovich Sytsevich in the Marvel comics universe. Scientists ran experiments on him and he ended up with powers like superhuman strength, superhuman speed, and superhuman stamina. The character possesses a thick polymer mat suit similar to a rhinoceros hide, covering his entire body except for his face. The suit provides him with more durability and resistance against a range of weapons.

So you can imagine how tough a SOB this Rhino is. Now imagine Paul Giamatti, a fairly short rotund man who has no semblance of being a tough guy playing Rhino. Many would argue it’s not much of an issue that Giamatti does not fit the appearance of Rhino, as he would be in a bodysuit most of the time and the bodysuit can be molded in any way the filmmakers see fit. The issue would arise when, he is without the suit; a situation that might arise in a few scenes in the film at least. Just for those scenes Giamatti might have to buff up, just like Alfred Molina did, to play the villain in the old Spiderman 2.

If Giamatti actually buffs up for the movie it would be really interesting to see, as to date he has never had to play a part where he needed to show off his physique, even for a little while. The Amazing Spiderman 2 Paul Giamatti RhinoThere is no doubt about the fact, what Giamatti lacks in his physical appearance for this role, he will make up with his acting. The release date for the movie is May 2014, so there is still plenty of time for Giamatti to get himself a trainer and hit the gym.

Also, it needs to be mentioned that all the focus wouldn’t be on Giamatti as a villain, as Jamie Foxx shall be essaying the role of the super villain Electro in the film. In fact, Electro is the main villain of this installment, which means Rhino wouldn’t get much screen time, which in other words means Giamatti might not have to hit the gym after all. His physical shortcomings can be rectified by the special effects team instead.
