Idris Elba Could Be The Next James Bond

Submitted by on October 25, 2012 – 11:22 am Comments

It would really be quite something if Idris Elba were to essay the role of Bond, don’t you think? Well, if your answer was a resounding yes, then you might just be in for a surprise. Turns out, Elba is in talks to play agent 007 of the MI-6. Skyfall star Naomie Harris has revealed that Elba has already met with producer Barbara Broccoli to discuss the possibility. “I didn’t realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond,” Harris was quoted as saying.  ”And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he’s a great guy” she added, giving Elba her vote.

Daniel Craig fans though, would argue that Craig has lot many Bond movies left in him, and it would be wrong to think of a replacement just yet. But, there is no harm in keeping the options, as you never know when a backup might come in handy. It would also be safe to say that, Skyfall’s success would matter greatly when it comes to Craig continuing as Bond. Also, there is the factor of Craig being quite a great actor who might not want to remain trapped in a particular identity, which there is a risk of happening, if he stars in a few more Bond films.
