Time for X-Men movie fans to rejoice once again; Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are making a comeback in ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’. Brian Singer who has returned to direct this installment after directing the first two movies in the series, revealed this news in a Tweet. He basically tweeted, “I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult to X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Also thrilled to announce Sir Ian Mckellen and Sir Patrick Stewart”.

How is that going to work with the actors playing both Magneto and Professor Xavier, in the same movie with Fassbender and McAvoy, who played those characters as young men in X-Men: First Class Singer was asked and replied “The movie is called X-Men: Days Of Future Past, use your imagination”.  “More to come” added Singer. For those unaware, On October 25 2012, Matthew Vaughn let it be known that he stepped down as a director. He will instead direct “The Secret Service” based on the comic book by Mark Millar (who created “Kick-Ass”). It was then that Brian Singer was roped in to direct this installment.

While still attached to the project, about this new installment Vaughn had said, “First Class is similar to Batman Begins, where you have the fun of introducing the characters and getting to know them, but that takes time. But with the second one, you can just get on with it and have a rollicking good time. That’s the main difference between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight”.  The sequel is scheduled to go into production in January 2013, when Jennifer Lawrence has finished shooting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games.

The sequel is scheduled for a release on July 18, 2014. In August 2012, Singer stated that the film was still being scripted, and revealed that the film’s title is X-Men: Days of Future Past. On November 27, Bryan Singer also tweeted that McAvoy, Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult will be reprising their First Class roles, besides tweeting about Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. It would be interesting to see how the older selves of Magneto and Xavier are woven into the script.
