the hobbit screencap from filmWith ‘The Hobbit’ coming up in December and the second part coming out a year later, the creators of the J.R.R Tolkien classic are thinking of stretching the movie into a trilogy! The move to a 3-part-movie came to Filmmakers and Peter Jackson when they saw how Warner Bros. had so much success with Harry Potter and other franchises. No real deal has been made due to the contracts that they have with the actors and the fact that they were only contracted to do two movies. Fans are worried that the climatic battle will be pushed off until the end, giving fans the uncomfortable wait until next year to see it. However, it has to be said that Jackson’s prior trilogy of ‘Lord of the Rings’ grossed $3 billion for 2001, 2002 and 2003, each a year apart.

With a change like this, producers are getting interested to see what they can do with a francise like “The Hobbit” and be able to get everything they can from it. With Jackson working closely with the writers of the two ‘Hobbit’ movies, it is sure to be a successful trilogy similar, or even better than, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. Jackson is confident that they have enough material in the book to be able to make the movie into a trilogy. New Line Cinema, the production company of the film, is happily willing to accept a third film and will help in any way to get the actors hobitt filmingto agree to it as well. Based on past successes, that shouldn’t be a problem at all for them. Filmmakers have been talking with Martin Freeman and Ian McKellen about this in the last few weeks to see if they will be willing to stick around for another part. In all sense, the work is going to be hard.

Some have said that this is Warner Bros. being “hungry” for a new franchise. With Harry Potter and Batman now over, they have only “Hunger Games” to look forward to along with Superman “Man of Steel”. Either way, fans are excited to be able to have the chance to see more of the story being brought to life since the 1977 TV version of it in Animated format. Surely this is going to cause a lot of anticipation to see how they are going to end with the 2nd part and how they will enter with the 3rd part. With a cast of Elijah Wood, Like Evans and Martin Freeman, it is going to be interesting to see where they are going to end up.
