For those unaware John McAfee is the guy who is responsible for McAfee Antivirus, which many of you probably use. So you can image that the guy is loaded and is a big deal. Now, a movie is going to be made on his life, which should be interesting mainly because it will cover his life right from his childhood days to the present day events of his life.

The present day events of his life anyway read like a Hollywood movie script with him being accused in Belize of murdering his American expat neighbor and then becoming a fugitive, claiming he was being falsely accused. He basically fled to Guatemala; from where he was eventually deported to the US. A movie being made on his life, is surely because his life off late has become even more interesting than him just being an IT geek who made millions, off a software.

In fact there are two movies in the pipeline that will be based on McAfee’s life. First one is a Canadian production with a budget of $28.8 million and will be produced by Michael Mosca and Francesca Visconti. “Although Mr. McAfee’s recent adventures have been widely publicized, the surface has barely been scratched regarding his life story” said Mosca in a statement. The movie will reportedly be based on McAfee’s personal memoirs and has been christened ‘Running in the Background’. It was McAfee who sold the rights of his memoirs in 2012, so a film could be made on his life.

On the other hand the second film is reportedly going to be produced by Warner Bros and shall be based on an article about McAfee that was featured in ‘Wired’ magazine. The article is titled John McAfee’s Last Stand, written by Joshua Davis. This article by Davis concentrates more on the recent happenings in McAfee’s life, rather than looking at his whole life. In other words, it accounts McAfee’s life from just a few weeks before he allegedly murdered his neighbor. “On November 12, 2012, Belizean police announced that they were seeking John McAfee for questioning in connection with the murder of his neighbor. Six months earlier, I began an in-depth investigation into McAfee’s life. This is the chronicle of that investigation” is how Davis’s article begins, which should give you an idea of what to expect from this second film on McAfee.
