Well, its time all speculation is put to rest, as a choice has been made. Turns out, Chris Pratt who was recently seen in the film Zero Dark Thirty, shall essay the pivotal role of Star Lord. Pratt was seen in Zero Dark Thirty playing a Navy SEAL and he especially bulked up for the role. Seems like, his muscles impressed the makers of Guardians of the Galaxy so much that, he was roped in.

Just in case you are wondering, Pratt is best known for his roles as Harold Brighton “Bright” Abbott in the television series Everwood, the recurring character Winchester “Ché” Cook in season 4 of The OC, Andy Dwyer in the television series Parks and Recreation and baseball player Scott Hatteberg in the film Moneyball. Firstly, this is his first time, starring as the central character in a mega budget superhero film and to top it, the movie is set in the Marvel Universe. Basically, the movie could end upChris Pratt The Lead In Guardians Of The Galaxy being as successful as the Avengers, which in turn would opens doors for Pratt that he did not know existed before, just like it did for Tobey Maguire after he was cast as Spiderman. Secondly, if the movie works, there would obviously be a few sequels, and Pratt being Star Lord the leader of the Guardians, would possibly star in all of them. This would in turn mean millions of dollars for him in fees and possibly even endorsements.

Thirdly, this movie might even lead to him getting starring roles in a bunch of other big budget Hollywood films. Pratt was chosen for the role, as the makers possibly wanted a relatively fresh face that everyone would identify mainly as Star Lord once the movie releases; just like everyone identifies Chris Hemsworth as Thor, even though he has acted in other films. For those unaware, in the Marvel Universe, Star-Lord is a master strategist and problem solver who is an expert in close quarter combat, various human and alien firearms and battle techniques. In other words, Pratt might have to train in a bunch of other things, besides pumping iron.
