Avatar 4 Will Be a Prequel

Avatar 2 and 3 are yet to even be released and James Cameron has already revealed that, Avatar 4 shall be a prequel. It won’t be surprising especially with the kind of money the first one made, if the other installments also earn in billions. Maybe, by the time Cameron is on his 10th installment of Avatar and he might surely be someday, he might become richer than Bill Gates, or he might even manage that by the 5th or the 6th installment.

Interestingly, it was barely a week ago that producer Jon Landau had claimed he and Cameron would be working on the next two films back to back. In addition, he had suggested that they aren’t at the moment looking at any more sequels of Avatar, beyond the third installment. Clearly, either Cameron didn’t keep Landau in the loop, or Landau knew about it and was technically right when he said there wouldn’t be any more sequels, as Cameron is planning a prequel. “I have an idea for a fourth,” says Cameron. “I haven’t really put pen to paper on it, but basically it goes back to the early expeditions of Pandora, and kind of what went wrong with the humans and the Na’vi and what that was like to be an explorer and living in that world” he further revealed, about his vision of the 4th.

Avatar 2 is slated to be released some time in 2015; therefore it would be interesting to observe when the 4th installment would be released, if it actually gets made. One thing is for sure though; the 4th if it does get made will have effects and graphics which would be out of this world. Consider this, with the second releasing in 2015, the third would probably release in 2017, the 4th after that would at least take 4 more years, if not more.

Imagine the advancement in technology by then and therefore the things Cameron shall be able to do with 3D and with computer generated graphics, for this film. Cameron reportedly has managed to streamline the creative process, as far as the future installments of Avatar are concerned, this in turn might help him save valuable time, when converting his vision into reality.
