Tom Cruise might be busy with his divorce, and answering weird questions about his religion and the things he has done as its follower, but he still isn’t letting all of that affect his career. In fact, it has recently been revealed that his science fiction movie ‘All You Need Is Kill’ shall be releasing in 2014. It’s a story about a soldier fighting in a war with aliens, who finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way. The plot-line of the movie sounds like it’s similar to that of ‘Groundhog Day’, minus the comedy, but plus the guns and the action. Giving Tom, company in the film would be Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton, besides others.

This movie shall be Blunt’s second foray into the action film genre, after Looper, which is slated for release soon. “This really felt like the right time to do it, and you can’t ask for a better team than Tom and [director] Doug [Liman] –- Doug is such a visionary and Tom is the most accomplished action guy you can find,” Blunt was quoted as saying. “We sat down a few times, we had a table read and character development talks, and he’s really fantastic in the room with that stuff; he’s very collaborative and very, very professional. And he’s fun” she added.

Turns out, Bérénice Bejo was considered for the lead female role before Emily Blunt was cast. Also, Brad Pitt was in consideration for playing the lead, before the part finally went to Tom Cruise. One surely can’t help but wonder, as to what tipped the scales in Tom’s favor. Probably it was the stupendous success of the latest Mission Impossible film. Tom on his part is one busy man, with his action film ‘Jack Reacher’ slated for release in December this year.

Then in April of 2013, his sci-fi adventure film ‘Oblivion’ shall be releasing. It is a big budget extravaganza, which shall see Tom play a veteran soldier court-marshaled to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. Then, the arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.
