Sharon Osbourne Leaving “America’s Got Talent”

Sharon and Jack Osbourne with sunglassesSharon Osbourne has recently announced that she will be leaving the hit NBC show “America’s Got Talent” after the way the network dealt with her son Jack. Apparently Jack was supposed to be a participant on the show “Stars Earn Stripes” but after his recent Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, the network told him never mind!

Allegedly, Jack had a deal in place to participate on the show, which pits celebrities against one another in military training exercises, but after the 26 year old’s announcement that he suffered from the auto-immune disease, the producers fired him only two days before filming.

Producer David Hurwitz said that Jack had never officially been hired for the show, though Jack received an email from NBC’s vice president of talent relations, Chuck LaBella, saying that they were looking forward to working with him.

Hurwitz sent an email message shortly after Jack announced his diagnosis and claimed that the rigors of the show would be too intense for jack and the network could not move forward with his appearance on the show. NBC claims it never fired Jack as no contract was ever signed but Osbourne claims there was a verbal agreement.

Since the dispute, the 59 year old Sharon Osbourne has said that she will no longer be working on “America’s Got Talent.” She made a sort of announcement last month in a tweet to her Co-Judge Howard Stern. She wrote: “My darling Howard Stern, money is not the reason I’m not returning to (America’s Got Talent), it’s because…” She never elaborated on why she wouldn’t be returning.

She later told the New York Post that she made her decision after Jack was mishandled by NBC. She said she commented that she can’t be fake and said that NBC had badly handled the situation. She apparently fought with NBC executives over the incident. She’s admitted that she is willing to pay the penalty for leaving the show, as she was still under contract.Stern, money is not the reason I’m not returning to (America’s Got Talent), it’s because…” She never elaborated on why she wouldn’t be returning.

It’s too bad she can’t go fill the empty judge’s seat on “American Idol.” As per her contract, she cannot be a judge on another network for at least five years. Sharon has been a staple on the hit talent show since 2007.  NBC has said that “Sharon has been a valuable part of the NBC family. We regret any misunderstanding and wish Jack well.”
