Randy Quaid Denied Permanent Residence In Canada
Recently, Canadian immigration officials denied Randy Quaid’s request for permanent residence in Canada. This information was reportedly leaked by an immigration official who under the condition of anonymity agreed to reveal this highly confidential news. The official also revealed that Randy could contest this decision by the immigration officials in the federal court. It is yet to be seen if Randy will take a legal recourse in order to resolve this issue.
For those unaware, Randy and his wife are wanted by officials in the U.S., as they have charges of vandalism against them, this since the last year. But, the officials aren’t seeking an extradition, although they have made it clear that Randy and his Canadian wife would be arrested the moment they return to the U.S. Therefore, it’s hardly surprising that Randy wants to become a permanent Canadian citizen and not return to Canada. The Canadian officials on their part are naturally aware of the fact that he is wanted in the U.S., which is probably the reason why he has been denied permanent residence.

The justification Randy gave for permanently wanting to live in Canada is that he felt just like his friends David Carradine and Heath Ledger; he too was being hunted by “Hollywood star-whackers”. After hearing his justification, many would argue that Randy is losing his marbles, but it could simply be that it’s too embarrassing for him to admit the real reason, which is that he would be jailed if he returns. Well, it’s not like Randy and his wife vandalized property worth millions, they are actually charged with vandalizing property worth over $5000.
Basically, they are said to have damaged property in the house they were renting in Santa Barbra California. The charge against them is kind of petty, which is probably the reason why the U.S. officials really didn’t want to waste a lot of money trying to extradite the couple. Wonder what Randy’s younger brother and famous actor Dennis Quaid has to say about all of this. In retrospect, all these issues can’t really eclipse Randy’s achievements in life. Randy has a long career spanning over 90 films, besides his various roles on television shows. For his efforts he has received numerous awards and accolades, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy. He is best remembered for his roles in the National Lampoon’s Vacation movies, Brokeback Mountain and Independence Day.
