Pussycat Dolls Were Not All Singers! Nicole Scherzinger Says So

Submitted by on October 8, 2012 – 9:32 am Comments

It would appear that Nicole Scherzinger is in hot water with former Pussycat Dolls band mate Kaya Jones. What for you might be asking? Well because in a clip for Scherzinger’s upcoming VH1 ‘Behind the Music’ interview she claims that she sang 95% of the Pussycat Dolls songs on the first album PCD released September 2005. She goes on to say that “I’ll never forget I finished the album PCD, and Ron (producer) and I brought the girls into the studio, and we played it for them. That was the first time they ever heard the music. Do you understand what I’m saying? We played the album for the Pussycat Dolls, it was the first time they ever heard the songs.”

Ron Fair producer / A&R, Pussycat Dolls, who is featured in Scherzinger’s VH1 interview, tell VH1 “Melody sang a bit here and there, but the records were Nicole. With an occasional adlib, but they were Nicole, they were created with her.”  Pretty compelling stuff, so it’s not just Nicole Scherzinger saying she sang most of the first album it’s also producer Ron Fair.

Why then is Kaya Jones all up in arms over the up coming interview? Not sure because when asked by TMZ about Scherzingers claims she (Jones) “does not out right deny them” and she is adamant that the only reason Nicole sang lead vocals for everything, was that “there was a lot more going on behind the scenes” Now that confuses me because I would think that the most important part of a musical group is, well the music.

So what was “going on behind the scenes” that was most vital to the group then singing lead vocals or any vocal for that matter? We may never know. Jones also said, “Nicole was always someone who wanted to be in the spotlight and would do pretty much anything to get it.”

Seams to me like Scherzinger didn’t have much choice but to sing everything, because you and the other girls were to busy doing the much more important work that goes on behind the scenes. Kaya Jones adds, “To call the other girls in the Pussycat Dolls ‘window dressings’ is a bit farfetched … every girl in the group was talented.” I don’t believe that anyone can say that all the girls in the Pussycat Dolls were talented, I mean just look at them dance. Wow!
