Puddle of Mudd Lead Singer Wes Scantlin Arrested

Wes ScantlinPuddle of Mudd’s lead singer Wes Scantlin was arrested at an Austin, TX airport after drunkenly getting into a fight with a flight attendant while the plane was in the air. According to the Austin Police Department, Scantlin got into a verbal fight with a flight attendant over alcohol. Apparently Scantlin was upset that the flight crew would not sell him anymore alcohol.

Scantlin’s flight was originally supposed to land in Los Angeles, but when Scantlin began to cause problems on the plane, the flight was rerouted to Bergstrom International Airport, and Scantlin was kicked off the flight.

The Austin Police Deparment said that Scantlin was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and could later be facing the federal charges associated with interfering with the flight crew.

Scantlin just recently pled guilty to a felony cocaine possession. In July a judge agreed that as long as Scantlin can keep his record clear for 18 months, the cocaine possession will be removed from his record. However, he may have just violated that condition and may now face jail time not only for the cocaine charge, but also for the public intoxication and interfering with a flight crew.

Scantlin was originally busted in January when cops pulled him over and found that he had some powders and pills with him. The 39 year old singer was pulled over at 3 AM on January 12 in Culver City. Scantlin showed signs of being intoxicated, and after a search, the police found controlled substances in the vehicle. When the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office finally filed their complaint, they said that Scantlin was in possession of cocaine.

Scantlin was then booked for felony possession and was released just a few short hours later after he posted the $10,000 bail. Along with the felony drug charge, Scantlin was also charged with 2 misdemeanors. Not only was he under the influence of a controlled substance, but he was also driving without a license. Scantlin faced up to four and a half years in jail.

Scantlin made a deal with the prosecutors and agreed to plead guilty to the drug possession charges if the two misdemeanors were dropped. In exchange for the guilty plea, Scantlin had to complete a drug counseling program. He had to enroll by August.Austin Airport

Scantlin also made headlines towards the end of last year as the singer failed to pay any taxes in 2009. Documents filed with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office said that Scantlin failed to pay his federal and state taxes, nearly $60,000. Scantlin owed the IRS $44,726.23 and the State of Californa $17,323.51.

Hopefully Scantlin won’t get into too much trouble over the whole plane debacle. If he does, this could bring back the drug charges Scantlin was able to weasel out of earlier this year. If this is the case, the singer could face a few years of jail time.
