Mayim posingMayim Bialik was in a car accident yesterday afternoon in Los Angeles and sustained some very serious injuries. The “Big Bang Theory” actress was hit on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea around noon. Bialik was alone when her white Volvo was hit in an intersection by a vehicle that held three Chilean tourists. Both airbags in Bialik’s vehicle were deployed.

When the emergency responders arrived on the scene, there was tons of blood. Bialik had major damage to her left hand. There were numerous lacerations on her hand and her left thumb was almost completely severed from her hand. A witness told TMZ that her finger “Was just hanging there.” Bialik was taken to a local hospital. The tourists were not cited or detained.

The former “Blossom” star was in danger of losing her finger, but it has since been saved by doctors at the Los Angeles hospital. The actress had her husband tweet a message stating that she will be able to keep all her fingers, though they are not really functional just yet.

The spokesperson for “The Big Bang Theory” studio Warner Brothers Television said that the incident will not affect production of the series, which began filming their new season last week.
