Lance Armstrong Steps Down As Chairman of ‘Livestrong’

Submitted by on October 17, 2012 – 9:36 am Comments

It seems that Lance Armstrong’s career and legacy have been going down the toilet ever since the allegations of the Tour De France cyclist champion was doping turned out true. The facts that Sponsors fled and that Tour De France banned him from racing ever again were just a small point of what the denounced champion was going to receive. Now, Armstrong has stepped down as chairman of ‘Livestrong’, the foundation that fights cancer in any way it can.

Some feel that enough is enough as one thing after another seems to be hitting Armstrong. Many feel that the guy doesn’t deserve this much hate. However, facts are facts and if you lie to many organizations for more than a decade that you are not doping  you have everything coming to you.

Nike, the famous shoe company, has announced that they too are dropping their funding as TMZ reported that the company released a statement saying, “Due to the seemingly

insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him.” The company however has no intention of stopping support to ‘Livestrong’.

All this has happened since the announcement from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency who released details of the doping Armstrong was part of. Many feel that this is what Armstrong gets, but there are still loyal fans out there that feel that he got the short end of the stick on this one. Despite surviving trials of Cancer, Armstrong was a symbol that no matter what the ailment is, anything is possible.

That doesn’t seem to be in anyone’s ears now that the allegations proved to be fact rather than fiction. It is sad that this happened to a man who was revered to be the Superman of Cancer and how many feelings were hurt from the news. With being banned from cycling for life, many wonder what Armstrong has next on his list. If I were him though, I would be hiding low for a while until the world forgets this travesty.
