Kate Middleton and Prince William File Criminal Complaint Over Recent Photo Scandal

Submitted by on September 17, 2012 – 11:00 am Comments

It isn’t surprising that the two have taken the legal recourse, as they had decided they would, the moment Kate’s nude pictures were revealed to the world by a French tabloid. One could safely say that, the whole experience Kate is going through at the moment is possibly more humiliating, than what Harry had to go through just a while ago. Moreover, Harry on his part was actually indulging in some mischief and got caught, whereas Kate was technically doing nothing wrong. It’s just that, she left a lot to fate, when she decided to bathe topless.

As it turns out, the French magazine ‘Closer’ took down the photos in question from its website, after being sued. Closer’s Italian sister publication, Chi, also published a 26-page spread today of the topless images. It hasn’t been revealed if Kate’s lawyers plan to take similar legal action in Italy, as they did in France. There is no denying the fact that; Kate’s cup of woes is overflowing.

On their part, the publishing group that owns Chi and Closer, defended the decisions made by the respective editors to run a report on the pictures stating “The editors of the two magazines decided to publish the pictures because their content is clearly newsworthy, without in any way being damaging to the subjects. The publisher respects the arguments put forward by the editors of the two weeklies”. Alfonso Signorini, the editor in chief of Chi the Italian magazine defended his actions by saying “This is a feature that deserves a special edition given that it shows, in a wholly natural way, the daily life of a very famous young, modern and loving couple,” Signorini explained. “That they happen to also be the future sovereigns of Great Britain certainly makes it more interesting, newsworthy and in line with a modern conception of monarchy”.

It’s astonishing that these magazines are ready to defend their actions, despite one being sued and the threat of a lawsuit looming large, on the head of the other. On the other hand, the couple is trying to move on with life as usual and in that vein have decided to go ahead with their tour of the Solomon Islands.
