Referring to the passing away of his 16-year old son Jett, Travolta recently revealed that he was so deeply affected by his son’s demise that he had decided to give up on his acting career. Jett passed away in 2009, following a seizure while taking a bath. Then, with the love and support of the people close to him, Travolta once again found the courage to try his hand at acting, after a gap of 3 years.  ”I lost my son a few years ago and I’ve been having quite a time of that,” he told BBC Breakfast. “After three years of getting support from my church and people, fans and family, I decided it was as good a time as any to come back to work.  “I thought of retiring because I thought it was too much.”

He also revealed that the opportunity offered to him by Oliver Stone, for him to act in the thriller ‘Savages’ was too tempting for him to turn down. “He’s a top director, if I was going to come back to work; this is the film to come back to” Travolta explains, elaborating on what prompted his comeback. He also expressed his sympathy regarding the media glare that, Kate Middleton is presently having to encounter, through no fault of hers.

He in fact expressed his view that, today’s day and age is the worst time to be a celebrity. “There is a right to privacy whether you’re famous or not. Anyone being invaded at that level is unfortunate, there should be a law. “It’s the worst time to be famous in the history of fame, because of the internet and level of invasion of privacy is so extraordinarily high.

He added: “It’s never been easy, but this kind of thing is an example, and Diana was an example.”I call it celebrity prison, you’re restricted to hotel rooms and homes and resorts that hopefully are secure, but you don’t really get out a lot.” From the statements that he has made, it also seems as if, he was at some level voicing his displeasure at the treatment, he too gets from the paparazzi sometimes.
